Dandenong South, Victoria: With a focus on sustainability and increased supply chain efficiencies, Australia’s leading furniture retailer Freedom has relocated their Victorian distribution centre to a new state-of-the-art facility in Dandenong South.
The site comprises a total of 24,345 square metres and is strategically positioned geographically to allow greater access to major arterial roads, streamlining logistics and expediting customer deliveries for Victorian customers.
Featuring a 100-kilowatt solar power system, water-efficient rainwater harvesting, and double glazing and foil-faced insulation and internal wall insulation throughout – sustainability is at the fore. Efficient LED lighting and motion sensors, metering of utilities and vertical gardens are employed throughout.
“Freedom continues to seek ways to drive innovation and improve practices for both the environment and customers. Our new premium Dandenong South distribution centre is world-class and reflects our commitment to increasingly sustainable infrastructure,” said Pascal Kouknas, General Manager – IT and Logistics, Freedom.
“The Victorian facility is proudly customer-focused. Freedom leads the way with how we deliver – the warehouse is aimed at strengthening operations, with seamless integration, improved layouts and innovative technology, a reflection of our commitment to our customer-first vision” continued Kouknas.
“Customers will enjoy greater flexibility and access with a purpose-built entrance enabling order collection directly from the distribution centre and designated car spaces to allow for ease. We’re excited to offer this service to our customers.”
The build also focuses on employee well-being with the design providing the Freedom team with improved working conditions – including better air quality, daylighting, and end of trip facilities such as bike racks, lockers, and filtered water.
Completed in June, Freedom relocated to the new facility in August 2023.
