Arts Centre Melbourne is partnering with Melbourne Digital Concert Hall for MDCH’s Hamer Hall Series – presenting two days of world-class performances on November 25-26.
Four concerts over two days will be broadcast live from the iconic Hamer Hall featuring a stellar line-up that includes Ensemble Liaison, the Melbourne Ensemble with MSO Concertmaster Dale Barltrop, violinist Wilma Smith and Friends plus MSO Concertmaster Sophie Rowell and pianist Kristian Chong.
The line-up has been curated by Melbourne Digital Concert Hall’s Co-Director Chris Howlett with the program ranging from joyous masterworks of Mozart, Beethoven to much-loved Melbourne composer Calvin Bowman, the sounds of South America and a world premiere by award-winning composer John Novacek.
Arts Centre Melbourne’s support of the MDCH Hamer Hall Series continues the priority of supporting and providing opportunities for artists as we emerge from a difficult year for our industry.
“It’s an incredible feeling to welcome musicians back to our Hamer Hall stage made even more poignant as we mark 38 years since this magnificent venue opened. This collaboration with Melbourne Digital Concert Hall will provide inspiration to our state and sector as we take each considered step towards re-opening,” said Arts Centre Melbourne CEO, Claire Spencer AM.
“Throughout the disruption, during this year’s closure we have looked for opportunities to support as many artists as possible and this project provides even more opportunities for artists who cannot wait to get back on stage.”

The MDCH Hamer Hall Series will be streamed live across four one-hour concerts on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November 2020 – 7 pm & 8.30 pm.

“When programming, I wanted to bring players together that would normally spend three nights a week performing on the fabulous stage of Hamer Hall, but also showcase the strength and resilience of Melbourne chamber and orchestral players. The programs are uplifting and a celebration of the lights returning to this iconic venue,” added Howlett.
Four-concert passes are $85, of which $80 goes straight to the artists and a $5 booking fee helps cover transaction and streaming costs. Single tickets are $24, including a $4 booking fee.
