We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead the Chamber’s capacity-building and industry development programs. The newly created Programs Manager role will be responsible for developing and implementing transformative programs, services and events that grow the capacity, reach and impact of WA’s arts, culture, and creative industries.

The Role

The arts, culture and creative industries sector is an exciting and vibrant ecosystem that plays a crucial role in Western Australia’s socio-economic success. The Chamber is instrumental in developing, implementing and facilitating capacity-building initiatives that help to grow the competencies of its members. This work contributes to the value being added to Western Australia by Chamber members, and their work being valued by communities and decision makers.

The Programs Manager will be a self-starter who will develop and deliver a range of projects, services, forums, events, and other capacity building initiatives for Chamber members and other stakeholders. These will include development of programs that support individual and organisational capacity-building needs in the arts and culture sector, initiatives with local and regional governments, cross-sector industry development initiatives, and programs centred on social, emotional and mental health wellbeing and the arts. The role will include the development of industry forums and sector conferences.

The Programs Manager will work collaboratively with the Chamber team to implement the various initiatives. The role also intersects regular with key partners and stakeholders, and a partnership mindset is essential.

The Programs Manager will be a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about building capacity within the arts, culture and creative industries, and is keen to advocate for the Chamber’s strategic business goals.

The Chamber’s members are individuals, arts, culture and creative sector organisations of all sizes, and private and public sector stakeholders. As a peak body, the Chamber is committed to serving its members with the highest levels of professionalism and expertise.

The role will report to the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber and is part of a small, close-knit team.

Role Description  

Program Development

  • Develop a programming strategy that builds on the Chamber’s capacity-building audit with a range of relevant programs, courses, events, forums, conferences and other initiatives.
  • Plan and oversee program development, including content and logistics, for Members and other stakeholders from initial ideation through to completion.
  • Develop a revenue model for Chamber programs to support the organisation’s sustainability.
  • Work with the CEO to identify and develop partnerships for programs and services.
  • Work with partners and other key stakeholders on initiatives that support the growth and development of the arts, culture and creative industries sector.

Project Management

  • Assume operational responsibility for the Chamber’s capacity building, professional development and industry development programs.
  • Manage the resources of programs effectively and efficiently to ensure that all projects are within budget and on time, and that consultants/contractors are professionally managed.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure projects adhere to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Continuously monitor the success and progress of programs, revising scope and schedules where necessary.
  • Monitor and manage project risks.

Reporting

  • Develop feedback mechanisms that demonstrate the success of programs with stakeholders.
  • Develop timely reporting frameworks for programs to enable funders and other stakeholders to assess the success of initiatives.
  • Generate program reports for internal and external use.
  • Contribute to grant or funding applications where relevant.

Collaboration and Delivery

  • Work with the Chamber CEO and Membership Engagement Manager to ensure programs are relevant to Members, are communicated widely, are timely and effectively implemented, and events related to programs are successful.
  • Work with partners, funders and other stakeholders to develop mutually beneficial initiatives, monitoring and reporting frameworks.

Project Administration

  • Develop and manage a programs database.
  • Ensure the logistics for all programs are in place, for example venue bookings, catering, registrations, guest speakers, IT requirements.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements 

The following attributes are essential for the role of Programs Manager:

  • Experience in developing and implementing diverse programs and initiatives, including conferences and forums.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including digital skills.
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently, while being part of a small team.
  • Proven experience in member or stakeholder relationship management.
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A genuine interest in the arts and culture sector.
  • Personal attributes of integrity, curiosity and collaboration.
  • Police Clearance.
  • Experience with databases and Microsoft Office platforms.

The following attributes are desirable for this role:

  • Business development or membership association experience.
  • Events experience.
  • Marketing experience.
