This wine has been trodden by foot to break up the bunches and gain greater structure. Matured in used 500 Litre French oak puncheons. Then bottled without fining or filtration and sealed with a cork. There has been a lot of winemaking go into this bottle of Grenache.
On opening the wine I poured a large glass. The wine was light in he mouth, showing good fruit with wonderfull acid and a little confectionary, musk stick. Pleasing enough but not what I was really looking for. Put the cork back in the bottle and let the wine open up over night.
Wow next day the result was dark deep fruit with just the faintest hint of musk that was well integrated with the almost mouth filling crunchy strawberry acid. Backed up with fine dusty tannins. For me the wine has transformed into, a Southern Rhone weight and mouth feel, finishing with a good acid wash on the back plate.
This wine will find a place in my cellar. I really enjoyed this wine after an extended decant, to show what was on offer.

The Food

BBQ T Bone steak char grilled on the outside and still pink on the inside.

PS. I think this wine is a bargain when you consider the TLC that has torn into the making of this wine.
