Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced
by Rob Greaves for Uniting Melba and podcast through
the Toorak Times and Tagg.
Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
In the final part of his story, we learn how Charles earned the right to be called Dr Pallaghy by having gained his PhD. He has had an amazing and diverse career and his life certainly has not been dull, as we learn just how adaptive Charles has been. He moved from Engineering, to Chemistry, through Physics to Bio-physics then onto Bio-chemistry and finally, Genetic Engineering.
Charles – 2018
His stories, set both in Australia and overseas, are incredibly informative and the manner in which he tells them makes for enjoyable listening. Now retired and living in what could be described as a Gated Community in Mount Evelyn Victoria, Charles shares his thoughts and concerns over the consequences of ageing as experienced particularly by his wife, but also himself. It certainly reminds us all that the issues he faces are indeed the issues we all will have to face one day.
