This is a Golden Moment repeat program, taken from our Vault of Treasured memories, where we re-present a program we believe is worth repeating and we do so because while lockdown has ended, there are still restrictions on visiting and interviewing older people.
This is Part 1 of a 2-part story featuring the Life and Times of Gladys Buchan.
Born in 1914 Gladys had seen and experienced a lot of change during her life. In following the story of her life from her earliest memories through to when this interview was carried out, in November of 2011, we not only follow the life journey of this wonderful woman but are also privy to another piece of the jigsaw that of the people that have made this country to wonderful.
Among the tales that Gladys shares are stories of her as a child, such as when she and her dog Jack, lay flat down on a railway track to let a train pass over them.
We learn of the development of her love and talent for music exemplified when Gladys participated in a concert where eight piano players played on three piano’s simultaneously.
There is a lot to her story.
