Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced by Rob Greaves and podcast through the Toorak Times and Tagg” style=”3d” color=”orange”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]
This is the 3rd and final part of the story of Nick Ordinans.
Over the past two programs we learned that Nick developed a love for animals on his fathers piggery in Staffordshire England. Although coming from a modest background Nick won a scholarship to a prestigious school and gained a good education.
After trying several jobs he finds his calling working in a Zoo, where he meets his wife to be, Elizabeth. Eventually they move to Australia in 1982 where Nick gained employment working at the Healesville Animal Sanctuary.
Nick was more than just a “keeper’ at the sanctuary. He made a real difference being a prime mover in the establishment of the magnificent “Bird of Prey” program.
Despite his passion and effectiveness at his work, he sustains an injury that forces him to retire and leave his beloved animals and birds in 2002.
Yet despite this loss in his life, Nick continues to champion animal rights and he shares that passion and his thoughts on this issue, while sharing stories of his other wonderful activities.
Like many “Boomers”, Nick is not one to go quietly and become inactive.
