Olive was born into the years we refer to as the Great Depression and in her story, she recalls how her family and many others survived in what was, a dreadful period. In many ways, we can relate to some of those difficulties as we struggle through COVID-19 and the effects of it’s having on us and our communities.
We follow Olive as she grows up and when the Second World war came, at the age of 19, Olive joins the Navy which provides some very interesting stories including how she met Keith Nicholls, also in the navy, a man she would eventually marry.
She takes those stories through the halcyon days of radio and into those early years of TV and the 1956 Olympic Games, in Melbourne.
