Linden New Art is proud to present RIGHT FIRE, an exhibition featuring large format photographic works by contemporary artist Lucille Martin.
In 2018-21, Martin was invited to observe fire initiatives that focus on the revival of ‘Good fire’ practice on Gumea Dharawal Country, as Artist in Residence at Bundanon Trust, NSW. RIGHT FIRE evolved over several days spent with Elders and Indigenous Fire practitioners photographing cultural burn practice to emphasise the significance of learning about Indigenous Fire knowledge.

* Lucille acknowledges and pays respect to Firesticks Alliance, Wodi Wodi Traditional Custodians of the Yuin Nation, Uncle Noel Webster Yuin-Walbunja-Murramarrang, Ado Webster Wandrawandian-Walbunja and Jacob Chant Morris of Gumea Dharrawal for assisting and allowing to share these images taken in line with good fire practice, acknowledgement and protocol. Lucille received permission to use the term ‘Right Fire’ from Victor Steffensen, Indigenous filmmaker and Fire Practitioner, descendant of the Tagalaka Nation of North Queensland.
