Following similar pop-up performances in New York and London, the explosive dance troupe arrives in Australia fresh from opening the 2023 Royal Variety Performance in front of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and more recently, after wowing audiences at Sydney Opera House last week, the explosive dance troupe continues its whirlwind Australian tour from tonight, playing at the Arts Centre – State Theatre until Sunday 28 January 2024.

Having risen to fame as a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent, Malevo captured international attention with its heart-pounding energy, fiery passion and blazing raw talent. The avant-garde dance company has since toured the globe, sharing stages with the likes of Cirque du Soleil and Latin popstar Ricky Martin.

Named as an official Cultural Ambassador to the National Identity of Argentina, Malevo offers an explosive modern take on the Argentinian folk dance, Malambo, an unmistakable and percussive style of traditional dance passed down through generations.

The all-male troupe combines elements of flamenco and zapateados (stomping) with pulsating drums and percussion from hand-held boleadoras; a tool made from leather and stone traditionally used for hunting.
