As massive fans of the cast and the Show & Juliet, Pop Choir instructors, Sharon Stokes and Darryl Moulton have organised a 500-person singing FLASHMOB with their Pop Choir members from all over Melbourne. The FLASHMOB is organised for somewhere between 10.30 and 11.30 am on Sunday 16 April at Federation Square.

Sharon and Darryl and the Pop Choir members have been rehearsing the smash hit song Larger Than Life, the opening number of & Juliet performed by Rob Mills,(originally by the Back Street Boys) in all their sessions this term. Pop Choir holds sessions five times a week in different locations from South East Melbourne to Mornington and has over 600 members attending weekly.

Sharon Stokes, the Pop Choir instructor says, “The Show & Juliet is a breathtakingly good show with such high energy, an amazing storyline, a fabulously talented cast and features such anthemic, upbeat and positive pop songs.”

The show and the songs align exactly with what Pop Choir is about says Sharon, “It’s singing, fun for everyone. Singing amazing pop songs and bringing anyone and everyone who loves to sing together each week, and also those who love the feel-good factor of singing with a large group of people and raising their energy!”

“Our ethos is if you can speak you can sing and anyone is welcome at Pop Choir. We also love putting on massive Pop Choir experiences, like no other, for our members to enjoy and be a part of like this mega FLASHMOB in Federation Square.”

Two weeks ago Pop Choir members from all the different locations in Melbourne came together in a local park to rehearse the FLASHMOB. On Sunday 2 April, 100 Pop Choir members along with Sharon and Darryl went to watch the Show & Juliet. Over 200 other members have gone to see the show on different days and love it so much booked to go twice with a few going 3 times!

Sharon Stokes who studied musical theatre at WAAPA, and has performed in productions across Australia and overseas, reached out through close contact to Rob Mills who plays one of the leads, William Shakespeare, in the show.  He graciously agreed to come and meet the Pop Choir members after the show.

The Pop Choir members were so delighted to meet Rob Mills and have their picture taken with him after the show. It was a highlight for them all.

In the meet and greet, Rob Mills mentioned he would try and make it down to watch Pop Choir perform Larger than Life for the FLASHMOB at Fed Square on the 16 April to the astonishment of Pop Choir, Sharon and Darryl.

Darryl says, “ Rob Mills was so lovely and so humble when meeting us all after the show. Taking the time to ask us all questions about our FLASHMOB and Pop Choir, it was all very exciting!”

Darryl and Sharon agree that music inspires and creates so much emotion and energy,  “& Juliet is nothing short of energy and talent and Pop Choir love to be able to bring this to their members in their weekly sessions and one-off events. It is wonderful that the arts support each other and lift each other up and we cannot wait to Flash our voices on 16 April,” they said.
