G’day Friends and Music Lovers
I have been playing tenor saxophone with the Melba Big Band since its inception in 2018, and have recently taken the reins to put on this show at 8pm on 27th July at Memo Music Hall 88 Acland st St Kilda, its going to be a great night of Big Band music and Vintage Nostalgia.
Dance to the music your ancestors danced for romance to, with the 17 piece Melba Big Band , Melbournes very own women’s Big Band, featuring soloists Mel Wilkinson trumpet, Nikola Shaw Trombone , Justine Jones Tenor Saxophone and Katrina Buttegeig on Vocals.
After a sell out show at The Jazz Lab in May, wowing the audiences at the Castlemaine Jazz Festival, The Melba Big Band takes on St Kilda on a Saturday night for a night of lush big band music at MEMO Music hall for all you south siders to enjoy.
Produced by St Kilda’s very own JJAS and established in 2018 with 5 saxophones, 4 trombones, 4 Trumpets and a killer rhythm section.
THE MELBA BIG BAND has played sellout shows at The Jazz Lab, 303, Dizzys, and Castlemaine and Mordialloc Festivals. Performing Big Band favourites such as L.O.V.E.
Almost Like being in love , Basically Blues, Jive at Five, and Tequila, as well as the music of Count Basie, Neal Hefti, Chuck Rio, Bernie McGann, Gershwin and more…
