Three offenders are on the run after they ransacked a Liberty petrol station in Melbourne’s north-east this morning.
Victoria Police have advised that they believe the trio forced their way into the Liberty petrol station on Plenty Road in Preston about 4.30am today Wednesday 27 March 2024.
The trio ransacked the store, before stealing a large quantity of cigarettes and fleeing the scene. Staff arrived at the store shortly after. Victoria Police also said the trio came back to store in a vehicle, before they rammed into the glass to regain entry. It is understood they may have been attempting to steal the shop’s ATM.
Detectives are investigating whether the incident is linked to a second burglary nearby.

The Toorak Times deployed our chief crime reporter, Lord Murray Schoorman of Peak Hour Images to attend the crime scene today and supply this masthead with these images. It was noted, the shop was open as usual and the floors had been freshly mopped albeit, the front glass window had yet to be repaired or replaced.
