Kate Gorman – is an established artist who has lived in the North East Valleys region of Victoria since 1982. During this time she has travelled extensively – drawing inspiration from places including Austria, France, Italy, Croatia, Spain, Germany, Poland, Sri Lanka & Guatemala.
Kate works in an expressive, painterly technique, building layers of vibrant color in an abstract style.
‘My art reflects my interpretation of the landscape around me and my experiences in daily life – working on our farm in the King Valley or travelling through the countryside in Tuscany.‘
‘I invite the viewer into a happier space – giving them a hint of my interpretation of the subject matter – then urge them to complete the story. My hope, is that my work will trigger a personal experience or memory or connection to a special place’.
Gorman’s CV includes a background in fashion design and she completed her formal studies in Visual Arts and Design in 2006.The recipient of various awards including the 2015, 2012 & 2010 King Valley Art Show, the 2015 & 2014 Wodonga Art Prize, and 2009 Wangaratta Jazz Art Award.
Kate’s work is held in private and public collections throughout Australia and overseas.
