In an adventurous and celebratory performance event, Glasgow-based artist Nic Green exuberantly examines contemporary feminism and invites over 100 Melbourne women of all ages and backgrounds to share the stage in an energetic tribute with local and Scottish artists.

Acknowledging the joys and complexities of identifying as a woman, Trilogy begins by celebrating women as they are now in today’s world.

Honest and adventurous, Trilogy is a three-part theatre work that deftly weaves performance, participation, discussion, music and archival material – it carves out a new space for feminism and rallying the power and strength in women together.
The first part of Trilogy ends with a high energy naked dance – a powerful and emotive moment that presents the female body in an alternative, empowered way which celebrates diversity in all women.
Footage from the landmark 1971 discussion Town Bloody Hall – in which Norman Mailer took on passionate feminists including Germaine Greer – kicks off the responses and reflections of five young performers; before an exuberant paean for womankind concludes an evening of eclectic style and rousing energy.

Recipient of the the Arches Award for Theatre Directors, a Herald Angel, a Dublin Fringe Award and a nomination for a Total Theatre Award, Trilogy was created in response to low self-esteem, a lack of self-efficacy and a lack of feminist awareness observed by the artist in cases of girls and young women.
Green’s broad and comprehensive practice spans award-winning dance and theatre performances at the Barbican and Southbank Centre in the United Kingdom, and also varied community and public art projects, research-based pedagogical and holistic learning experiences, interactive web-based projects and musical audio compositions.
