The gloves are off as host Shane Jacobson pits 4 generations of Australian celebrities against each other with one question:

‘Which generation of Aussies had it best?”

Yes, it’s the age-old question, “when was the best time to be an Aussie?”

For Boomers, their peak years were the 60s and 70s, the Gen X hey-days were the 80s and 90s, for Gen Y it was the Noughties and 2010s, and for Gen Z – well they’re living it right now.

  • Who were the Hottest Generation of Aussies? (Ep 2)  Tuesday August 17

  • And which generation are the Biggest Rebels and Rule Breakers? (Ep 4) Tuesday August 31

Australia has changed a lot in recent decades – the way we dress, the way we make friends, how we’re entertained, how we work, even what we’re allowed to laugh at. It’s hard to know a TikTok from a Tic Tac, and don’t get the Boomers started on childhood – “sure it’s much safer now, but geez those fireworks were a blast!”

With hilarious archive footage from our recent past, the series is hosted by Aussie comedy legend Shane Jacobson and features Merrick Watts, Joel Creasey, Sam Pang, Mel Buttle, Fiona O’Loughlin, Merv Hughes,  Brendan “Jonesy” Jones, and Chrissie Swan, Colin Lane, Georgie Parker, Jay Lag’aia, and Mark Humphries as well as Gen Z new-comers Lucinda Price and Dave Woodhead.

Australia Now and Then is produced for 7 by Ronde Media (Ben Davies – Bondi Rescue, Here Come The Habibs, Outback Ringer) and Blink TV (Paul Clarke – Eurovision, Spicks and Specks, Long Way to the Top).
