Bayside Arts

This week, we share one of our experiences of how art is helping the community during these times. We hear more from our Changing Faces, Reframing Women in Local Democracy participants and we have a quiz to test your knowledge of Bayside’s art history.

Connections

We have been working with a number of Aged Care Facilities in Bayside to continue the Connections program during lockdown. The program provides a unique opportunity for people living with dementia to connect, interpret and express experiences through art works during a discussion-based tour of an exhibition. While Bayside Gallery is closed, our team are successfully connecting with residents online. The sessions are run by Gallery staff and dedicated volunteers.

Connections is open to people living with dementia in residential care facilities, who can regularly attend across a series of four weekly tours with gallery staff. Note, carers from the residential care facilities must be present at all times.

Sessions usually run on Wednesday or Thursday, 10.30am – 11.30am.

Our Monthly Community Connections: Art + Dementia is open to people living with dementia at home, all are welcome to attend with their carers.
