“I am thrilled to be appointed as Australia’s Official Photographer for this event,” David said. “I have photographed many of the Australian performers appearing at Festival Interceltique numerous times at Australia’s leading festivals. It will be fantastic to capture them in international surrounds.”

Around 750,000 people from all over the world invade the Celtic land of Lorient to enjoy the cream of cream of Celtic music. Founded in 1971, the Festival Interceltique de Lorient was created to contribute to the development of music and Breton culture.

This Year the Aussie contingent includes a vast array of talent including Archie Roach, Jane Rutter, Claymore, Eric Bogle, Graham Dodsworth, Queensland Irish pipe band, Saoirse, SÁSTA, Siobhan Owen Pays de Galles/Australie, Sylvestre Soleil and Tommy Emmanuel. Well known international acts include Joan Baez and The Corrs, you can read about the full line-up here The poster for the 2016 Festival celebrates Australia’s participation in the event, expressing the bush and its sounds and vibrations that resonate Aboriginal culture.

Organisers say the poster is rich in Celtic and Australian symbols representing the fusion of cultures on the occasion of the 46th Festival. The artwork features bagpipes, a harp and a triskele for Celtic heritage and boomerangs, eucalyptus leaves, a didgeridoo and a salamander for Australia. The entanglement of these symbols, a set of forms against-forms, created a central kangaroo mascot flagship of this diaspora, with a nod to aboriginal art.
