There really is very little in the world of music and entertainment that Erick Morillo hasn’t turned his hand to. He’s a platinum-selling artist, he’s topped the charts worldwide and he’s been responsible for a bewildering array of dance-floor tracks including ‘Reach,’ ‘Believe,’ ‘Do What You Want’ and ‘I Feel Love’ – under pseudonyms including Ministers De La Funk, The Dronez (with Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero and Jose Nunez) and Li’l Mo Ying Yang. He’s remixed everyone from Whitney Houston to Basement Jaxx and continues to run the legendary Subliminal Records house music empire.
In a world where music is often limited to genre handles and buzz sounds, Mark Knight has proven a rare and wonderful breed of integral house heavyweight. Having last month released a Remix to the legendary 80’s house classic, Joe Smooth’s ‘Promised Land’, and a brand new compilation album on his label ‘Subliminal’ (Subliminal Sessions 2019) Erick had an amazing 2019, with a cooler run of shows this summer including Resistance, Paradise, elrow Amnesia and Pikes in Ibiza, as well as key shows at Watergate in Berlin and Heart Festival in Miami this weekend alongside The Martinez Brothers.
Releasing his first record back in 1992 on the iconic Strictly Rhythm imprint and famous for his classic Reel 2 Reel hit, ‘I Like To Move It’, Morillo is now into the 27th year of his illustrious music career, and remains as consistent in his output as ever. Enhancing his reputation with his weekly ‘Sessions’ parties in New York, it wasn’t long before the platinum-selling artist was throwing some of the biggest parties in dance music, including the annual Subliminal Sessions at the Miami at Winter Music Conference and his now-legendary Pacha Ibiza residency.
