Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced
by Rob Greaves for Uniting Melba and podcast through the
Toorak Times and Tagg.
Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This is a Baby Boomers special program.
In part 3 of the Life and Times of Chris Stockley, we spend much of the program peeling back the layers of the development and history of one of Australia’s most iconic groups of the 1970’s – The Dingoes, of which Chris was an important part. The group amassed an amazing live following and released some amazing music on albums, further helping Chris develop not only his guitar licks but also his song writing.
Chris holds little back as we follow the story of the Dingoes success and their tour of the USA where fame beckoned. Then, just as their music was about to explode and their tour to take them onto major stages, it all imploded!
This was a dark time for Chris and he hides little as he talks about what happened and how he was “invited” to leave the band. However, out of this “disaster” further opportunities arose, as we will hear from Chris.
