Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced by Rob Greaves and podcast through the Toorak Times and Tagg” style=”3d” color=”orange”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]This is the second and final part of the story of Phyllis Jones, a woman born in 1913 and a woman whose stories have reminded us of life and times in a period largely consigned to history.
In this final part of her story, Phyllis talks more about the years of WWII and how she meets and marries, her second husband.
As a couple they travel extensively overseas and within Australia and as a result of her tales, we understand why this woman was so strongly impacted upon, by her outback experiences.
Among her stories is one of how she came to open Australia’s first childcare centre, in her home.
Phyllis reflects deeply on life today of the changes she has witnessed over almost a century and, of feminism and how it has led to wonderful opportunities for the women of today, opportunities women in her younger years did not have.
Phyllis has passed on since this interview was conducted, but we thank her for sharing her story, as it is very much a part of the treasured history of Australians and the telling of their story through their own words.
