Australia was once a global champion of ocean conservation. In 2012 its network of marine protected areas covered over 3,000,000 square kilometres of ocean but after suffering the largest wind back of marine protection in history in 2018, it’s time to set things right.

Organised by Patagonia, the free events will travel to Melbourne, Sydney and Byron Bay between 8-12 November. Expect in-conversations with leading climate activists, live music and special screenings of acclaimed short-films focused on ocean protection and climate solutions.

Aimed at activating surf and coastal communities to take steps to protect the nation’s amazing marine ecosystems, the three events will be hosted by surfer and Patagonia Global Sport Activist Dave Rastovich, alongside ocean-loving friends including co-founder of Surfers for Climate Belinda Baggs, climate activist Tishiko King, Dr Simon Bradshaw from the Climate Council, and many more.

The film line-up will include a special premiere screening of a new short film showcasing Lorde Howe Island Marine Park, presented by The Waterpeople’s Lauren L. Hill, and ‘In The Family of Things’ by Nathan Oldfield with a live scorebefore unmissable music acts.
