At the end of August every year, as part of International Overdose Awareness Day, we take a moment to remember the many lives lost to overdose. Each one devastating to those left behind.
A few years ago we decided that we wanted to do more than simply ‘remember’ – we wanted to actively equip people with the knowledge and skills to recognise an overdose and do something about it.
That tiny idea grew rapidly into the World’s Largest Overdose Prevention Training – now in its 5th year. Our simple aim was to reach the people who are most likely to witness an overdose: mums, dads, husbands, wives, friends, carers, supporters, workers, bystanders.
This year, more than ever, it is important to share these skills.
We would like to extend an open invitation to attend. Please feel free to bring a friend or colleague or loved one as you feel appropriate.
The training will address the signs and symptoms of overdose, in addition to providing a demonstration of the application of the opioid reversal drug Naloxone. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.
