Sustainable fashion success at Rags to Runway: Great Southern Style
More than 20 fashion students Kangan Institute took a strong stand for sustainable fashion through a unique Melbourne Fashion Week runway showcase at North Melbourne’s Meat Market yesterday.
Over 50 upcycled looks were paraded at Rags to Runway – Great Southern Style, a progressive fashion parade jointly hosted by Kangan and Australian Red Cross.
Participating student Kashel Porozny said the Rags to Runway project was a valuable opportunity to gain industry – relevant skills.
“Working with Kangan Institute and Red Cross on this sustainability project will help me in industry because that’s the way we’re headed now – sustainability is going to be imperative in every company” she said.
Based at the Richmond campus, Kangan’s Institute, Centre for Fashion and Creative Industries features a world-class faculty with extensive industry experience and industry connections. The boutique campus offers training programs in fashion design and business, interior design, millinery, and hair and beauty.
