Attractions to Visit in Brisbane, Australia

Story Bridge

Sydney is not the only city in this country that has a massive bridge that needs to be climbed!  In Brisbane, you must tackle the height of the Story Bridge for its gorgeous panoramic views.  While you can climb this bridge at any time of the day, we recommend doing it either as the sun is rising or setting, as the views are even more magnificent at those times.

The Cultural Precinct

We could mention all the museums and galleries individually, but since they are all within the Cultural Precinct, we are grouping them all together.  This area of the city is where you will find the Queensland Museum, the Queensland State Library, the Queensland Art Gallery, and the new Queensland Gallery of Modern Art.  Your days will be full if you choose to visit all the different events that are held at each one while you are visiting.

Kangaroo Point Cliffs

One of the best landmarks in Brisbane is the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.  These massive cliffs were formed from volcanic rocks and once you are at the top of them, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the city.  It is best to take a picnic lunch or dinner with you, so you can relax and enjoy the views for a little bit longer.

City Botanic Gardens

Not too far from the center of the city are the City Botanic Gardens and you can easily walk, ride a bicycle, or take public transportation there.  Free guided walks are offered, but it is just as easy to follow along with the map to get to where you want to go.  Drop your bags off at one of the mindmybag brisbane locations and enjoy a relaxing stroll in the park before check-in. As you are enjoying the fragrances of the flowers, don’t forget to take the time to stop to appreciate the Bamboo Grove, ponds, and a cannon that dates to 1803.

The Brisbane Lookout at Mount Coot-tha

Once you reach the Brisbane Lookout, you will find yourself staring out at more than five hundred acres of bushland reserve.  There are numerous walking trails that you can wander along and one of them will take you over to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha.  The most popular trails include the Aboriginal Trail, the Summit Track, the Simpson Falls Track, and the Ghost Hole Track.  Before you leave, head over to the Kuta Café for a bite to eat or grab a drink at the Summit Restaurant and Bar.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Almost everyone loves koalas and if you are vacationing in Australia, chances are you are looking forward to cuddling with one of these super-soft creatures.  Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the oldest koala sanctuary in the world and there are more than one hundred koalas roaming around.  When you are not looking at the koalas, and having your picture taken with them during a cuddle session, you can visit with the platypuses, sheep dogs, and lorikeets that live there as well.

Albert Street Uniting Church

The Albert Street Uniting Church has been a prominent feature in this city for more than one hundred and sixty years now.  Thousands of people visit this church every year, whether for a pilgrimage or to see the old architecture.  This church always has something going on, so you may find a service or a wedding taking place during the time you choose to visit.

South Bank

An old industrial site was turned into the South Bank for the World Expo back in 1988.  While a few people visit during the week, this entire area is quite crowded on weekends and at night.  Streets Beach is an excellent place to start your adventure at South Bank, and afterward, you can walk along the promenade and dine at one of the restaurants.  If you happen to visit on the weekend, you can do a little shopping at the South Bank Markets.  The vendors sell everything from handbags and jewelry to clothes and craft items.

Noosa

Noosa is a must-see destination with its plethora of beaches, excellent restaurants, and a year-round holiday vibe. Noosa is arguably the best destination in the country for a laid-back holiday that can be enjoyed by couples and families. There is an abundance of AirBnB accommodation that is made easy with a convenient luggage storage solution where you can keep your bags and enjoy the last day on the beach. It’s only a 90-minute drive from Brisbane and around a 30-minute drive from Sunshine Coast Airport. It’s home to some very famous business moguls and celebrities for good reason.
