“Fashion Awards Australia is about giving young designers the opportunity to come together and show what they have worked on,” Director, Heather Marcus. Fashion Awards Australia allows contestants to show off their skills and creative flare in the design and construction of clothing.
The fashion event held each year features many talented young designers from secondary schools, TAFEs and professional designers – giving them the opportunity to experience backstage fashion whilst pushing forward the recognition of Australian textile design.
Fashion Awards Australia (FAA) was created to recognize and support students and designers in the textile and fashion industry. We provide opportunities for further education, employment pathways and personal development, helping to enhance well-being and improve quality of life. FAA is strongly committed to reducing fast, cheap fashion and preventing clothing waste from ending up in landfill. As the voice for emerging talent, we work to ensure the fashion industry continues to grow and thrive in Australia.
One of our greatest achievements is seeing our shows sell out year after year, bringing a boost to Wyndham City’s economy in Melbourne’s West. Fashion Awards Australia is now one of the most inspiring fashion awards in Australia.
One of our favourite categories is Rags to Runway, a sustainable fashion challenge. This is an important and exciting event as we are educating students and residents to stop clothing going into landfill across Australia. We also encourage Year 9-10 & 11-12 to enter Stich don’t Ditch 2025 (details below):

ABOUT Heather Marcus OAM
I have lived and worked in Wyndham for over 50 years. I was a partner in a Building Business, and I then opened a Fashion Retail Business in Watton Street, Werribee, Victoria.
I closed my fashion store in 2000, and I became an event coordinator organising large events and festivals in our city. I was a councillor with Wyndham City in Melbourne’s West for 19 years.
My passion is fashion, and I now organize the Fashion Awards Australia Awards (FAA) which is one of the country’s most exciting celebrations of emerging talent in fashion and design. Entirely not-for-profit and run by an enthusiastic committee of volunteers. FAA is built on a love for creativity and community.

I am honoured to work with Secondary and TAFE College students as they are creative and so talented. It is an electrifying celebration of innovation and individuality. And it is all about giving future designers the tools and confidence to thrive.
I look forward to joining the Lions Club of Werribee and continuing my work with the members of the Lions Club. Together we will serve the residents and students in our community, fostering sustainability.
