These school holidays, join Gunditjmara master weaver Aunty Bronwyn Razem for a hands-on animal-making workshop using natural materials and traditional weaving techniques. Create a camp dog, kangaroo, or other bush creature. This family-friendly workshop is perfect for adults and children to work together.

Celebrate the beginning of Waring (Wombat) Season with Sammy Trist (Taungurung) in this hands-on workshop. Paint your own wombat using ochre and paint pens to create a unique keyring. Sammy is a multidisciplinary artist and experienced educator who loves to engage and inspire people in a friendly and welcoming space.

Join Vicki Burgess (Moonbird People, Lutruwita) for a kid’s workshop making earrings, necklaces and bracelets with a range of materials including gum nuts, emu feathers, metal charms and more. Vicki is an alumnus from our groundbreaking Blak Design program, and has work featured in the current exhibition Treading Lightly at KHT.

Bring along your own worn garment (or op shop find) to embellish and upcycle in this fun workshop using simple embroidery techniques and badge making with Clinton Hayden (Wiradjuri). Clinton, an alumnus of our groundbreaking Blak Design program, has work featured in the current exhibition Treading Lightly at KHT.
KHT GROW at the Little Food Festival

KHT will be celebrating the Murnong Yam Daisy at this year’s Little Food Festival at Fed Square. Come and learn about the significance of Murnong in First Peoples diets in south-west Victoria, and collect a seed packet to grow Murnong daisies in your own garden. You’ll also have the opportunity to smell and taste a range of local, natural ingredients including pepperberry, smokebush, kurrajong, lilly pilly, lemon myrtle and strawberry gum, along with samples of herbal teas made by local First Peoples.
ANZAC Feather Flowers

To mark ANZAC Day, join Aunty Glenda Nicholls (Waddi Waddi, Ngarrindjeri and Yorta Yorta) in a creative workshop making Feather Flowers in the Aboriginal colours. Learn about the cultural significance of feather flowers in Koorie communities. Aunty Glenda will guide you through the technique of making the flowers, as well as her belief in paying respects to birds and animals – and her own reflections on ANZAC Day. This workshop is perfect for adults to work together with their kids.

Take an art break and join one of our regular lunchtime Curator Tours. Stroll through our current exhibitions and gain insights into the artists, their artwork and their practice. These sessions are open to all, with time for questions and conversation as you move through the galleries at the group’s own pace.
All programs are free of charge. Bookings essential as places are limited. Light catering with tea and coffee is provided. KHT appreciates donations to support our programs.
