Have you ever wondered if you were handling, housing, and displaying your museum objects in the best possible conditions, given varied circumstances? 
This informative and hands-on workshop led by Powerhouse conservator Bronwyn Dunn, will impart practical advice and helpful techniques for keeping museum objects in the best condition.

Bronwyn will help you to look at your collection with fresh eyes and will enable you to implement positive changes in your museum collection.  The session will conclude with a 1-hour tour, led by a museum registrar, of one of our storage areas. Bookings essential, a light lunch is included.

Good exhibition design and construction are integral to how audiences engage and interact with objects on display in your museum or gallery. Learn more in this webinar, led by Powerhouse Senior Exhibition Designer Hugh O’Connor and Powerhouse Workshop Construction Coordinator Penny Angrick.

Hugh and Penny will share simple tips to help in the process of designing and building small exhibitions and displays, from concept design to the final project. Drawing on their experience they will demonstrate examples of the Powerhouse production team’s creative design and production process.

Photographing Museum Objects Workshop + Tour

Join Powerhouse photographer Ryan Hernandez for a hands-on workshop demonstrating basic techniques that can be used to photograph objects on a budget with great results.

The workshop will focus on the use of mobile phone cameras to take images of Museum objects. Please bring your mobile phone and any camera you normally use for practical exercises. This event is designed for staff and volunteers working in smaller museums and the collecting sector. The session will conclude with a 1-hour tour, led by a museum registrar, of one of our storage areas. Bookings essential, a light lunch is included.

Regional Stakeholder Forum 2022

This free annual event is an opportunity for staff and volunteers from museums across Western Sydney and regional New South Wales to network, share stories and be inspired by presentations on topics relevant to the regional collecting sector. The Forum will also be streamed online for those unable to attend in person.

In 2022, presentations will focus on issues ranging from forward-thinking regional museum policy and practice to reflections on how museums deal with the consequences of natural disasters. There will be four afternoon breakout sessions for on-site participants to choose from. You can only register for one of the breakout sessions and you must select one to be issued a ticket to the full-day program. Complimentary morning tea and a light lunch will be provided.

The deadline has been extended for applications for our Regional Outreach Workshops. There are three separate workshops, which are all delivered on site, at a regional location, by a Powerhouse conservator, registrar or curator.
