Fire Rescue Victoria crews were called to 1 Ford Court, Mill Park 3082, shortly after 2:30am on Thursday 10 September 2026, following multiple Triple Zero Victoria calls to report a house fire.
Firefighters arrived within seven minutes, at 2:35am, to find the single-storey dwelling fully engulfed and the response was escalated to a second alarm.
The fire is being treated as suspicious and has been handed to Victoria Police after firefighting operations ceased. Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad attended the scene as the investigation began. Neighbours with CCTV of the offenders arriving and departing have assisted investigators with that vision.
The address had already drawn police and fire attention earlier this year after a previous fire at the same premises. In that deliberately lit fire, the family had escaped unharmed after the alleged arson attack. Speaking to media at the time, Sergeant Julianne Newman said “We’ve been told that a family who were home were able to evacuate to the rear yard when they were woken by the fire, [The family] wasn’t injured, I must say that, luckily.” Fire Rescue Victoria said firefighters managed to get that blaze under control within about 15 minutes. “The incident was deemed under control at 1:28am,” a spokesperson said on 27 July 2026.
While the full circumstances of that earlier incident remain a matter for investigators, Thursday morning’s blaze appears to have completed the destruction left unfinished by the first attack.
