Emergency services were called to the address shortly after 3:40am following reports that multiple vehicles were on fire in the front garden of the property.

It is understood offenders arrived in a silver vehicle before igniting four cars parked outside the home, then fleeing the scene before police and CFA (Country Fire Authority) firefighters arrived.

The occupants of the property were evacuated as a precaution while firefighters battled the intense blaze. No injuries have been reported.

PHI 1510The vehicles damaged in the fire include two BMWs, a 1997 Holden Acclaim Series II sedan (expired rego OCF545) and a heavily burned 4WD, which was so severely damaged it was largely unrecognisable. A partial registration plate on the 4WD appeared to begin with “ALTA….”.

Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrived at the scene on Wednesday morning, examining the charred wreckage and making inquiries in the surrounding streets.

Renowned crime-scene reporter and photographer Lord Murray Schoorman of Peak Hour Images attended the scene as investigators worked to establish who was responsible and whether the fire is connected to other incidents.
According to public online records, the property was last leased on 21 January 2022 by JK Estate Agents – Hoppers Crossing, for $390 per week.
